LAMOST FELLOWSHIP (NEW) TEXT SIZE: A A A
 
The Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fibre Spectroscopic Telescope (LAMOST) has finished its construction in 2009 and is expected to start its formal survey in 2011, and is now planning to award the LAMOST Postdoctoral Fellowship to support outstanding postdoctoral scientists working on fields related to LAMOST spectroscopic survey.

Applications for fellowships will begin in the spring of 2010. We anticipate offering up to 10 fellowships this year, selected by peer review. The selection committee will be composed of experts covering all areas of research in astrophysics.

Research supported by LAMOST Fellowship includes theoretical, observational, instrumental, and softwaring. In addition to pursuing independent research, all fellows are expected to contribute up to 25% of their time in support or development activities in the area of instrumentation, operation support, data processing, archive/virtual observatory, public affairs or science operations at the Xinglong Station of the National Astronomical Observatories, Chinese Academy of Sciences (NAOC).
 
The fellowships are granted for two years followed by a one-year extension (three years in total). A remuneration package will be provided including the annual salary of about 15,000-30,000 US dollars and a research budget of 10,000 US dollars.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. or equivalent, in Astronomy, Physics, or related field completed or expected by effective date, and a demonstrated record of research excellence. Candidates of all nationalities are encouraged to apply.
