Achievements
An important figure in the major telescope project, Miyun aperture Synthesis Radio Telescope. The contributions to the MSRT are Direct Fourier Transform hardware, receivers, system calibration and data analysis.
As a member of European team, studied CSS radio sources using international VLBI facilities. I have dedicated years to investigate a sample of 3CR CSSs at multi-wavelengths.
Since the SKA was proposed in 1993 in URSI GA in Kyoto, Chinese team has been formed in order to coordinate our efforts to the international SKA. We proposed Chinese concept - to build large aperture spherical antenna to realize SKA element, which has been eventually evolved to the project FAST. Leader of the national effort for the SKA and the R&D for project FAST. After 14 years feasibility studies, funds for FAST has been finally approved by the NDRC of China. Now, I serve as the Chief Scientist and General Engineer of the project.
