As an international partner of the TMT project, China has been intensively involved in the technical development in its pre-construction phase. It is playing important roles in:
1) the design stage of science instrument-WFOS/MOBIE, a wide field multi-slit optical imaging spectrograph, in finalizing its object acquisition, guider and wavefront sensor subsystems; 2) improvement of the design of the Laser Guide Star Facility Beam Transfer Optics and Laser Launch Telescope; and 3) Sodium laser prototype study. In the forthcoming week, a group of scientists and experts from the US and Canada, as well as several technical teams from NAOC/NIAOT, IOE and TIPC will meet for a series of progress reviews. You are all welcome to join, observe and comment on these activities.
