The Local Organizing Committee of the International Astronomical Union (IAU) XXVIII General Assembly announced today that the online registration and abstract submission is available from 1 September 2011 for the IAU XXVIII General Assembly, taking place in Beijing from 20-31 August 2012.
IAU’s General Assembly, held every three years, will bring together an expected number of 3,000 astronomers from all over the world to China and Beijing to present and discuss the latest scientific breakthroughs and discoveries in the rapidly evolving science area of astronomy.
Over two weeks in August 2012, the General Assembly will address many timely topics and the latest scientific discoveries in a number of specialized areas. With 8 Symposia, 7 Joint Discussions and 18 Special Sessions , the General Assembly’s scientific program will be broader than ever.
Submission of abstracts for any of the Symposia, Joint Discussion and Special Session is now available.
Besides scientific exchange, the General Assembly will showcase Beijing and Chinese culture through an interesting social programme, including tours in and around Beijing and a number of cultural and evening events.
