Time: November 5-9th, 2012
Location: Tsinghua University, Beijing, China
This workshop has a dual purpose: to discuss important topics in the field of SNe and related areas; to involve the various groups based in Beijing with work done in this area, addressing in particular younger researchers (students and postdocs).
We want to bring together a small group of people involved with the observations and theoretical interpretation of different types of Supernovae. The workshop will be conducted in a collaborative mode, leaving ample time for discussion and the development of common projects. In our view, the workshop should be the seed of new projects and collaborations, which will hopefully involve some of the local young researchers.
We are planning to devote each day to a different topic. These will tentatively be:
- Type Ia SNe: Physics and Cosmology
- Core collapse SNe: Observations, evolution, link to progenitors
- GRBs and SNe: Observations, scenarios, link to progenitors
- Surveys: integration of data, spectroscopic follow-up
