Current theories of cosmology believe that the Universe is smooth and homogeneous over large scales, but on smaller scales there are structures, like clusters and strands of galaxies. An issue in these theories is how to form galaxies from this smooth material that makes up the Universe. This article provides some new insight into addressing the problem of how the Universe shows structures on small scales but smooths out and becomes homogeneous on large scales.
