Some stars, which are near the end of their life, expand and contract in regular pulsations, which makes them appear brighter and dimmer over a regular cycle. Astronomers can learn about the properties of this type of star, called a red giant, by studying the pattern of their pulsations. This article describes some new results of a study of the pulsation pattern of a red giant star named є Ophiuchi. By modeling the pattern of pulsations, this research gives astronomers a better understanding of the nature of the red giant є Ophiuchi.
