There is a seeming contradiction in our Universe. It is smooth and homogeneous on very large scales, but rough and inhomogeneous on smaller scales, which makes explaining the growth and development of observed structures difficult. This article performs a new analysis of the available data about large scale structures and calculates constraints on how rough or smooth the Universe can be. This will help researchers better model the evolution of large scale structures like clusters and superclusters of galaxies.
