Numerical simulations of magnetic reconnection in the lower solar atmosphere TEXT SIZE: A A A
One of the outer layers of the Sun's atmosphere, called the chromosphere, flares with turbulent activity. Explosions like Ellerman bombs and microflares can erupt in the chromosphere. This article describes a study which performs computer simulations of chomospheric turbulence, giving astronomers a better understanding of how these kinds of flares can erupt and evolve.
