Low-ionization galaxies and evolution in a pilot survey up to z=1 TEXT SIZE: A A A
Astronomers can learn a lot about the history and evolutionary track of galaxies by studying their spectra, which represent the chemical fingerprints of the matter they contain. This article describes the results of a study of the spectra of a group of galaxies that are aligned away from our line-of-sight. Using the results of this study, astronomers can classify these galaxies according to their chemical properties, leading to a better understanding of galactic development.
