Astronomical objects that emit X-rays are hot and energetic. This article describes a study where astronomers identified pairs of objects that orbit around each other and also emit X-rays. These so-called X-ray binaries can show violent outbursts of activity. The results of this study help astronomers better understand dynamic aspects of X-ray binaries.
