Shock fragmentation model for gravitational collapse TEXT SIZE: A A A
Stars and planets, like our Solar System, began as diffuse clouds of dust and gas which later collapsed and coalesced. This article describes a study which models the way that clouds collapse into stars and planets. The collapse process involves an interplay between gravity pulling material towards mass centers and angular momentum spinning material away from mass centers. The results of this study give astronomers more insight into this complex process.
