A comet is a chunk of rock and ice orbiting the Sun. As a comet approaches the Sun, radiation from the Sun heats its surface and causes the material on the surface to blow into space, forming tails. This article describes a study which models the magnetic field in the tail of the comet, giving astronomers a better understanding of the properties of comets.
