First-order phase transitions in rotating hybrid stars and pulsar glitches TEXT SIZE: A A A
Pulsars are rotating compact objects which are remnants of exploded stars. Astronomers think that pulsars are neutron stars, but some researchers theorize that they may be composed of mixtures of other materials, cases called hybrid stars. This article studies how a hybrid star might be able to speed up its rate of rotation through ruptures in its surface, called glitches.
