Panel positioning error and support mechanism for a 30-m THz radio telescope TEXT SIZE: A A A
Radio telescopes are large dish or bowl shaped structures that collect and focus radio emissions. In order to operate with optimum efficiency, they must maintain a precise shape. This article describes a new method to actively maintain the precise shape of a large radio telescope by using mechanical pistons. This proposed method should help radio telescopes perform optimally, even with their large size.
