Time series data correction for the Chang’E-1 gamma-ray spectrometer TEXT SIZE: A A A
China launched a probe called Chang'E 1 to orbit, map and study the Moon. Chang'E 1 is equipped with a spectrometer which can detect gamma rays emitted by elements on the surface of the Moon. By studying these gamma rays, researchers can better understand what materials compose the Moon's surface. This article describes part of this process, which involves calibrating and measuring gamma rays from the Moon's surface.
