Molecular clouds can fill the vast interstellar space between stars in a galaxy. This article describes a study that observes molecular clouds in bright infrared galaxies, which helps astronomers map the structure of these galaxies and derive parameters describing their behavior. The results of this study will help astronomers better map these galaxies providing a more thorough understanding of their structure.
