Eclipsing binaries are pairs of stars which orbit around each other and periodically eclipse each other from our perspective. This article describes new observations of an eclipsing binary, in this case a so-called contact binary in which the members orbit closely around each other and share a common outer envelope of gas. These types of compact binaries are believed to later merge into a single star. These new observations, along with their associated derived parameters describing this system, help astronomers better understand this class of binary star.
