BL Lacertae objects and the extragalactic γ-ray background TEXT SIZE: A A A
BL Lacertae objects, also called BL Lacs, emit high-energy gamma rays through violent processes. The orbiting telescope Fermi has been conducting an all-sky survey of BL Lacs and found that their emission rates change over time. This article describes a set of observed BL Lacs that emit gamma rays and also radio, helping astronomers better understand their properties.
