Studying spectra of light emitted by atoms in the outer atmospheres of stars allow astronomers to derive many of their associated properties. This article describes an effort to develop automated methods of calculating parameters from stellar spectra observed by the Guoshoujing telescope, formerly called LAMOST. This effort will help astronomers process the large amount of spectral data expected to be collected from the upcoming LAMOST sky survey.
