Systematic differences in position and proper-motion between the PPMX and UCAC3 catalogs TEXT SIZE: A A A
Astrometry, the science of precisely measuring the positions of stars, is important for tracking changes and is used extensively in research. Two catalogs of positions of stars have been published, called the PPMX and UCAC3 catalogs. This article studies the systematic differences between these catalogs, helping astronomers better track changes in the positions of celestial objects.
