Kinematics and stellar population properties of the Andromeda galaxy by using the spectroscopic observations of the Guoshoujing Telescope TEXT SIZE: A A A
Stars in the same population of a galaxy usually show similar properties, such as ages, chemical makeup and movements. Studying properties and movements of stars in a galaxy can help astronomers better understand that galaxy's history and evolution. This article describes observations of populations of stars in the Andromeda Galaxy, a large galaxy near our own, using the newly-built Guoshoujing Telescope.
