The Universe exhibits behavior that is difficult for researchers to understand. It is expanding and accelerating its rate of expansion at large distances. This article adds to one current model, called string theory, that tries to explain this accelerating behavior by considering the evolution of spatial dimensions, helping researchers make progress on this difficult problem.
