The cores of some galaxies show outbursts of explosive activity, which may be manifested as material spewing out of jets from their centers. These types of galaxies are called Active Galactic Nuclei (AGNs). This article examines recent data from AGN emissions and tries to better understand the underlying mechanisms which cause the violent jets. This article helps astronomers better understand these energetic objects.
