Blazars are distant objects that produce enormous bursts of radiation. This article describes a study which monitored rapid outbursts from Blazar S5 0716+714, taking measurements of its rapid variability. The results of this study allow astronomers to measure the mass of this blazar's central black hole, giving more insight into how this object behaves.
