The optical/ultraviolet excess of isolated neutron stars in the resonant cyclotron scattering model TEXT SIZE: A A A
Neutron stars are compact remnants of formerly massive stars. A peculiar class of neutron stars is the case which shows little emission in X-Rays, but has an excess of emission in optical and ultraviolet. This letter studies the properties of this unusual class using a known process that generates radiation, helping astronomers better understand how these objects shine.
