Model-fitting of the kinematics of superluminal components in blazar 3C 279 TEXT SIZE: A A A
Blazars occur when material swirls around and into a black hole. As this material falls in, it heats up to high temperatures and generates great amounts of energy. As a result, part of the material can be ejected from the system with high speeds. This article studies components of this ejected material in a blazar and models how the ejected material flows, giving astronomers a better understanding of these powerful objects.
