Some galaxies show patterns of radio emission that have the shape of an “X.” This article reviews theories about how this type of galaxy produces the X-shaped emission and proposes more explanations for this phenomenon involving changing the direction of the black hole at the core of the radio galaxy. The new model put forward in this article will help astronomers better understand this type of radio galaxy.
