Near-infrared observations of the Be/X-ray binary pulsar A0535+262 TEXT SIZE: A A A
Binary stars are useful to astronomers because observing them reveals many properties about stellar systems that are otherwise hard to measure. This article describes spectroscopic observations of a pulsar, a compact spinning stellar remnant, orbiting a Be star. This system can exhibit violent outbursts of activity. The results of this study help astronomers better understand emission and related properties in binary systems.
