The Earth's atmosphere blurs astronomical images due to turbulence and refraction. In order to overcome these blurring effects, systems which actively correct them must be developed. These authors propose simulating the effects of the Earth's atmosphere by using a moving etched glass plate, which is much simpler and cheaper than other methods, but produces comparable results, helping advance this research effort.
