A model of low-frequency quasi-periodic oscillations in black hole X-ray binaries TEXT SIZE: A A A
When a black hole is part of a binary system, material from its partner can fall toward the black hole. As this material falls toward the black hole, it can then form a disk of hot swirling matter which can radiate a lot of energy. This article studies properties of this radiated energy and finds oscillations of matter in the disk, helping astronomers better understand this energetic process.
