Astrophysical applications of gravitational microlensing TEXT SIZE: A A A
Microlensing occurs when gravity from a relatively small body deflects light towards Earth. Astronomers observe a temporary brightening from a distant body due to this effect. This article gives an overview of recent developments related to gravitational microlensing and is part of a special issue devoted to the IAU General Assembly.
