Cyg X-1 is a strong source of X-ray emission. The X-rays come from hot material swirling around and streaming into a black hole. This article studies the spectral structure of X-rays emitted from Cyg X-1. The results of this study can help astronomers understand properties in the hot matter where these X-rays are produced, thus better characterizing the system.
