Possible origin of the Damocloids: the scattered disk or a new region? TEXT SIZE: A A A
A group of asteroids called Damocloids has orbits that are different from asteroids in the main belt between Mars and Jupiter.  Damocloids have highly elliptical orbits that can be inclined far outside the plane of the solar system. This article studies the origin of these objects, helping astronomers better understand them and how they are different from other types of asteroids.
