An SPH simulation for cooling and self-gravitating protoplanetary disks TEXT SIZE: A A A
Planets form from clouds of material that collapse and coalesce. During this process, the material that later becomes a planet forms a swirling disk. This article describes a study that simulated this process with computer calculations. The results of this study can help astronomers better understand how planets and similar bodies form.
