Model fitting of the kinematics of ten superluminal components in Blazar 3C 279 TEXT SIZE: A A A
As material flows into a black hole, it forms a disk and becomes very hot. As the material becomes hotter, it generates radiation and jets that shoot away from the poles of the black hole. This process occurs in a blazar. This article models clumps of material that shoot away from the poles of the system, helping astronomers better understand how blazars operate.
