Astronomers believe there are large black holes are at the centers of most galaxies. In some cases, material can flow into these black holes. As the material flows into the black hole, it heats up and generates radiation, making it an active galactic nucleus. This article studies the process where material flows into the black hole, but radiation emitted from this material also triggers other gas to collapse and form stars. The results of this study will help astronomers better understand dynamics occurring in galaxies.
