Braking PSR J1734–3333 with a possible fall-back disk TEXT SIZE: A A A

Pulsars are compact remnants of large stars that are born from a supernova explosion of their progenitor star. Although most of the material in the progenitor star is expelled in the supernova, some researchers think that a small fraction of this material can fall back to the center and influence the spin of the resulting pulsar. This article explores this idea of material falling back to the pulsar and breaking the spin, helping astronomers better understand this complex process.
