Contributions of type II and Ib/c supernovae to Galactic chemical evolution TEXT SIZE: A A A

Material fills the space between stars in our Galaxy which is called the interstellar medium. Chemicals that constitute the interstellar medium change over time because of enrichment from heavier elements by supernovae. This article studies how the chemical makeup of the interstellar medium changes over time, helping astronomers better understand this process.
