A new calibration model for pointing a radio telescope that considers nonlinear errors in the azimuth axis TEXT SIZE: A A A

The dishes that are part of large radio telescopes are very heavy, and structures that hold these large dishes sag and flex as the dish moves while the telescope is tracking a target during observations. These authors studied how the structure supporting a particular large radio telescope changes as the telescope moves along its azimuth axis, helping to improve the performance of this facility.
