Relations between stellar mass and electron temperature-based metallicity for star-forming galaxies in a wide mass range TEXT SIZE: A A A

Stars in galaxies make metals as they fuse lighter elements into heavier ones. Astronomers can understand how galaxies evolved by studying metallicities of galaxies. This study analyzes relations exhibited by emission lines that are related to metallicity in a large population of galaxies. The results of this study can help astronomers better use these emission lines when studying the properties of galaxies.
