Improved astrometry of space debris with image restoration TEXT SIZE: A A A

Space debris, including old satellites that no longer function and parts of old space vehicles, has been accumulating in Earth's orbit since humans started launching rockets into space. This space debris represents a hazard because of risks of collision with satellites that are currently in use. This article describes a new way to identify space debris in astronomical images, contributing to the effort to monitor and track these potentially dangerous objects.
