Metallicity and star formation activities of the interacting system Arp 86 from observations with MOS on the Xinglong 2.16 m telescope TEXT SIZE: A A A

HII regions are large clouds where stars can form that are located in galaxies. Since they are mostly composed of hydrogen, astronomers can study the properties and motions of these clouds by observing their spectra. The authors of this article record the spectra of an HII region that is part of two interacting galaxies. The results of this study can give astronomers insight into the history and behavior of these galaxies.
