Gamma/hadron segregation for a ground based imaging atmospheric Cherenkov telescope using machine learning methods: Random Forest leads TEXT SIZE: A A A

Cherenkov radiation is generated when particles move faster than the speed of light in a medium. Astronomical events that produce large numbers of particles can potentially be detected through emission of Cherekov radiation. This article describes trying to identify Cherekov radiation from a ground-based facility that collects many potential triggers of such a signal. The results of this article can help researchers in this fields.
