The Chang'e 3 mission had both a stationary lander and a rover that maneuvered around the landing site on the Moon's surface. One of the instruments on the Chang'e 3 lunar rover was lunar penetrating radar which directed radar signals towards the lunar surface and subsurface under the lunar rover and received radar reflections. By examining data from these reflected radar signals, researchers can gain insights about lunar subsurface features, advancing this field of study.
