Kinematics of solar neighborhood stars and its dependence on age and metallicity TEXT SIZE: A A A

Astronomers can understand the development and evolution of groups of stars by studying their ages, motions and chemical compositions. This article describes a compilation of data that includes kinematic data describing the motions of a sample of stars, the ages of these stars and their metallicities. These stars are nearby the Sun, so by using this data compilation, astronomers can better understand the groupings and evolutions of stars near our solar system.
