The environment of space near the Moon's surface is not well understood, since few probes have visited this region, and astronomical observations that try to investigate this region are difficult to undertake. This article describes observations of radio signals from a lunar probe that are used to investigate the makeup and properties of space near the Moon's surface. The results of this study can give new insights into the environment near the Moon's surface.
