Because the LAMOST telescope collects data about the spectra of objects it observes, researchers can study properties of different spectral classes of stars with LAMOST data. This article describes a study that analyzes properties of M dwarfs using LAMOST data, including the motions of these stars, activity in their atmosphere and their distance above or below the Galactic plane. The results of this study can help astronomers better understand the dynamics and behaviors of this spectral class.
