Since the 1960s, a number of probes have been launched and have orbited the Moon. By using remote sensing techniques, scientists can determine the composition of the Moon from data returned by these probes. This article describes one such study to determine elemental abundances on the lunar surface from data returned by the Chang'E-2 lunar probe, helping to advance knowledge in this field.
