Pulsars are compact stellar remnants that have high density and spin rapidly. They generate very regular radio pulses as they rotate that astronomers can detect with radio telescopes and deduce their spin period. Occasionally, astronomers observe an increase in the spin period of a pulsar, called a “glitch.” This article describes a possible reason for a pulsar glitch as arising from interactions with a theorized form of dark matter. The results of this article can help in the search for dark matter.
